Crewboard is for everyone at a station, so it needs to work for everyone. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on this website and in the Crewboard application.

What we have designed for

Atkinson Hyperlegible Next and Mono typefaces, chosen for distinct letterforms at small sizes and across a room.
Colour contrast of at least 4.5:1 for text in every theme, light and dark, and 7:1 on the high-contrast station display.
Statuses that never rely on colour alone: every status has a word, and most have an icon.
Touch targets of at least 48 by 48 pixels, and a visible 3 pixel focus ring on everything you can use with a keyboard.
Board lists marked up as numbered lists, so screen readers announce position and count.
Forms with visible labels, hints and error messages linked to each field.
Layouts that work from 320 pixels wide, and text that can be enlarged to 160% or more.
Respect for the reduced motion setting: animations stop, and the home page demonstration only moves when you choose.

How it has been tested

Crewboard is in early access, and testing is still under way. So far:

colour contrast has been checked by script for every text colour against every background it is used on, in all themes;
pages of this website have been reviewed in a browser at widths from 320 to 1440 pixels, with reduced motion and in light and dark modes.

Full keyboard testing is in progress. The site and application have not yet had an independent accessibility audit or testing with screen readers such as VoiceOver, TalkBack and NVDA. We plan to do both before general availability and will update this statement with the results.

Known limitations

The security check on the contact form is provided by Cloudflare Turnstile. If it does not work for you, email hello@crewboard.uk instead.
Training plans are PDFs uploaded by stations. We cannot guarantee that every PDF is accessible. Ask your station for the plan in another format if you need one.
